OUR MISSION:

The Foundation for Wildlife Management is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to promote ungulate population recovery in areas negatively impacted by wolves, assist state game management agencies in meeting their wolf management objectives, promote youth in the outdoors, and to educate the general public on the negative impact the successful reintroduction of wolves has had on our ungulate populations.

F4WM brings those who want wolves managed- State Game management agencies, outdoor enthusiasts, hunters, and ranchers, together with those who have the ways and means to get the job done!

With wolf hunter success rates at less than 1%, wolves habit of traveling great distances, and reproducing by up to 40% annually, managing their ever growing numbers has proven a daunting task! Sportsmen typically harvest less wolves than what are born each season, and it is the combination of our members efforts, and wolf disbursal that has kept their numbers stable the past several years.

With 2200+ wolves removed, F4WM has saved an estimated 308,000+ elk, moose, deer, and livestock, by promoting science-based predator management. (2200 wolves each consume 20 big game per year for 7 years- 7x20=140 x 2200 = 308,000 saved!)

F4WM funded 75% of the total wolves removed from Idaho in the 2022-2023 Season, as well as 54% of those harvested in Montana.

F4WM has removed 2200 wolves with just over $2,000,000 membership and sponsor dollars, with zero tax funding. That's less than $910 per wolf, funded by Sportsmen, Ranchers, concerned citizens, and a few Grants. Without the F4WM program, the Idaho Wolf Control Board would be charged with removing the same wolves. Their average expense to investigate livestock depredations and remove problem wolves averaged $9005 per wolf in 2016, $8003 per wolf in early 2017, and more than $9000 per wolf in 2018... 65% of which, has historically been funded by Idaho state tax dollars. 2200 wolves x $9000 per wolf= $19,800,000... 65% Tax funded= $12,870,000 State Tax Dollars potentially saved by implementation of our Wolf Harvest Reimbursement Program.
